Fulton County Schools is dedicated to providing positive extracurricular experiences through quality sports programs to all students. Participation in extramural activities should be an invaluable learning experience that contributes to the success of students becoming productive citizens. Lessons in sportsmanship, teamwork, time management, leading, and developing a healthy self -concept are an integral part of each student’s development. Through healthy and positive competitive experiences students will be prepared to thrive as adults.

Middle School Sports
Extramural sports activities are defined as competitive exhibitions and programs that are extensions of seventh and eighth-grade middle school intramural programs. Extramural sports activities are controlled interscholastic competitions between Fulton County middle schools. The following are permitted District extramural activities: Tennis, Gymnastics, Track, Volleyball, Basketball, and Soccer.

Intramural Sports
Intramural sports are defined as extracurricular sports extensions of physical education programs that are structured and organized within each individual school. Any student enrolled in Fulton County Schools may participate in intramural activities. Tryouts are not permitted for intramural activities. Schools should offer a variety of physical activities to enhance enjoyment and foster skill and health-related fitness needs.
Club Sports
Cheerleading promotes school spirit throughout Haynes Bridge. Some activities include: Cheering at HBMS basketball home and away games and many other sporting events.
Color guards Winter guard are teams of athletes who perform choreographed dances and routines with a combination of the use of flags.
Under Fulton County Board policy, Middle School Cheerleading squads and Winter Guard are classified as Spirit squads. Under this policy, they are considered as a club sport. As such they are allowed to go to all sporting events. But are not allowed to participate in competitions.
